The product consists of various components which are mixed and sealed in a container and make up the Recoveri Dot product.
The components are:
1. Microdots
2. Ultraviolet Light respondent polyurethane adhesive solution
3. Unique number system referred to as the Asset Identification Number (AIN)
4. Labels to adhere to the marked asset
5. Sturdy Packaging
6. Lightweight glass container
The microdot is a miniscule 1mm diameter transparent information disc onto which is etched a series of lines of text which is a unique Asset Identification Number or Name repeated across the disc.
Three thousand of these microdot discs are then mixed into a polyurethane solution which is both a transport medium as well as the adhesive to deploying them across areas of an asset. The solution contains an Ultraviolet material which when exposed to the UV black light will glow a blue hue indicating the presence of Recoveri Dots. This feature is used by Law Enforcement agencies worldwide to determine if an asset is microdotted. The solution dries in a hard, clear finish almost invisible from the surface it is on, leaving the microdots firmly fixed in place.
The mixed product is sealed in a “blister packed” containing about 50ml of solution and 3,000 microdots (all of the same number) and then applied using an application process.}

History
- In 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War, Paris was under siege and messages were sent by carrier pigeon. A Parisian photographer named Dagron used a photographic shrinking technique to permit each pigeon to carry a high volume of messages, as pigeons have a quite restricted payload capacity. However, the images were not as small as modern microdots. An actual microdot technique was used for steganographic purposes in Germany between World War I and World War II. It was also later used by many countries to pass messages through insecure postal channels. A Professor Zapp in Germany is claimed to have been the inventor of the technique, and a WWII spy kit for microdot production was sometimes called a Zapp outfit. After the Berlin Wall was put up, special cameras were used to generate microdots which were then adhered to letters and sent via normal means. Owing to the extremely small size of microdots, these messages often went unnoticed by inspectors and information could then be read by the intended recipient using a microscope. British mail censors sometimes referred to microdots as 'duff' since they were distributed here and there throughout letters rather like raisins in the British steamed suet pudding called spotted dick (or "plum duff").
FAQ
How does Micro Dot Technology Prevent Crime?
The Micro Dot or Micro Tag technology is applied to an asset. The unique number on the Micro Tag is registered to the lawful owner in the Recoveri database. The criminals are aware that if they steal the asset; the number will be circulated worldwide via the Recoveri Hot Dot register making the asset easily identifiable as a “stolen” asset.
Can the Micro Tags be removed by Criminals?
The micro Tags cannot be easily removed without destroying the asset. The UV based adhesive dries within 15 minutes of application and hardens within 12 hours.
How do I know if an asset has a micro tag on it?
The adhesive has an Ultraviolet (UV) base to it. Law enforcement agencies identify tagged assets with the use of an ultra violet light. The tagged asset will glow when exposed to the UV light.
What is a "HOT DOT™”?
A HOT DOT™ is a micro tag number that is registered in the Recoveri™ database as stolen. This means that a user has reported the asset as such and should not be purchased.
What is the HOT DOT Register?
The HOT DOT register is the register in which all stolen Micro Tagged assets are registered. This register is circulated worldwide to all law enforcement agencies
